FAIRFIELD Villa followed up their 1-1 draw with Barnt Green Spartak by battling their way to a 2-0 triumph over Studley based side Montpellier as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast.

In a game of two halves with Spartak, Villa came on strong in the second half to salvage a draw thanks to a Connor Collins penalty.

The match against Montpellier was much more one sided as Villa dominated throughout.

Pete Jenvey put Villa ahead before half time with Jarred Hill supplying a second with just two minutes remaining.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes said: "It really was a game of two halves with Spartak and were we lucky only to be 1-0 down at half time.

"The second half was a different story as we also hit the woodwork twice and had another effort kicked off the line.

"Had we beaten Montpellier by seven of eight goals, it wouldn't have been unfair. It was just one of those games where we couldn't finish our dinner."

Villa have a local derby this Thursday night when they visit Redditch Borough for a 6.45pm start.

On Saturday Villa travel to Coton Green in another Midland League Division Two fixture.

Villa have been forced to rule out goalkeeper Mark Wright for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, but luckily Aaron Collins has recovered sufficiently from a broken thumb to replace him.

Villa's Les James Cup final against either Smithswood Firs or Burbage will now take place at Sutton Coldfield Town's Coles Lane ground on Saturday May 19.

Initially the tie was due to take place at Walsall FC's Banks' Stadium and Oakes revealed: "It's the first time we've ever reached this final and everyone feels really let down that it isn't taking place at Walsall FC. It just becomes another final now."

Villa will also be running a reserve side next season in the Midland League Reserve Division.
