GEORGE Rhodes is chasing more trophy glory with Onslow CC in the CricHQ T20 Cup in New Zealand.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has already helped his overseas team to win the Ewen Chatfield Trophy, a 50-over competition.

Now they are through to the quarter-finals of the T20 tournament after a hat-trick of victories.

Rhodes made early breakthroughs with the ball and then shared in a match-winning century partnership in Onslow’s latest victory over Wellington Collegiates.

He quickly dismissed opener Luke Vincent and number-three Sushant Balajee to help to restrict Wellington to 126 for eight.

Onslow was reduced to 11 for two in reply but Rhodes played the supporting role in an unbroken stand of 116 in 12 overs with keeper Ben Shields.

He finished 26 not out while Shields raced to an unbeaten 85 as Onslow reached their target in 15.5 overs.

Onslow will now face Patone-Eastbourne in the quarter-finals.

Rhodes’s team did not fare so well in the two-day Pearce Cup, going down by an innings and 84 runs to Eastern Suburbs.

Eastern Suburbs declared on 309-6 for six to post a first-innings lead of 208 and Onslow followed a total of 101 with a meagre 114. Rhodes was second-top scorer with 20 off 52 balls.
