REDDITCH United manager Darren Byfield says there is no chance his players will dwell on their disappointing FA Cup exit.

The Reds lost 4-1 at neighbours Stratford Town last Saturday to end their six game unbeaten run.

However, the boss has no doubts that the character of this season's squad will ensure there is no cup hangover.

He said: "There is not a chance with this group that they will let anything affect them.

"This group is a fighting group and they wish they could have played the very next day to put it right.

"We will lose games this season but it's all about how we react. I have no doubts that we will see them come out firing on Saturday.

"I love this squad and the characters we have and you know they will go out and give you everything. There attitude is brilliant and the way they react to going out of the cup will show everyone that."

Byfield was disappointed with the defeat but thinks the scoreline doesn't tell the full story.

He added: "I don't think we lost because we were too confident or tried to force it because we were very patient. It came down to us causing our own problems really.

"They set their stall out not to lose the game with a back five and four in front of them in midfield and made it difficult.

"They were the better team on the day but we wouldn't have lost that game by that score in the league. Because it was the cup we had to go for it and were chasing the game late on.

"We'll take it on the chin and move on."

Redditch were due to take on Alvechurch in the Birmingham Senior Cup last night before hosting Biggleswade at the Trico Stadium this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Byfield called for fans to come out and support his side on Saturday as they look to secure more league points.

He said: "We will have to field a young side against Alvechurch but it'll be good to look at those players and it'll give them the chance to push for a place in the first team.

"We can then put out our strongest squad at the weekend and look to come out flying again.

"It would be great if the fans could come and get behind us because they make a massive difference. We have scored 12 goals at home already tis season and conceded just one.

"The players really do deserve the support at the minute."

Vinny Mukendi will still be absent with a knee injury but Kevin Monteiro could return.
