MANAGER Darren Byfield has praised Redditch United's firepower after their impressive start to the season continued.

Reds secured a 3-1 success over Chesham United at the Trico Stadium last Saturday thanks to goals from defender Orrin Pendley and forward duo Spencer Weir-Daley and Dior Angus.

Weir-Daly and Angus fired home their six goals of the campaign as United continued to show their attacking intent.

Byfield said: "They have both been a real handful already this season and really do compliment each other well.

"Spencer's experience is really helping Dior and Dior's pace and trickey is helping Spencer.

"They are both having fun at the moment and competing to be the top scorer but helping each other as well.

"I have to highlight Danico Johnson's impact from the bench recently. He is still searching for his first goal but it won't be long until that comes.

"Then we have Vinny Mukendi who is injured at the moment but has two in two.

"It's looking really good and I know the forwards are pleased with the service they get from the likes of Danny Jackman and Andi Thanoj, who are making everyone want to improve to get to their level."

The win leaves Reds in fifth place after six games but Byfield still believe there is improvement to be made.

He added: "Chesham were a tough side and we didn't play as well as we have been. It's a really good sign that we weren't at our best but got the three points.

"You can never question this team's attitude and commitment but we know we can still improve. We have to improve because we have some tough games ahead and we've certainly won nothing yet."

United were due to take on third-placed Banbury last night before this Saturday's FA Cup clash at neighbours Stratford Town.

"Stratford's a game that both managers will feel they can win," added Byfield. "It's a game we are looking forward to."
