Redditch United 3, Chesham United 1

REDDITCH UNITED continued their promising start to the season after strike pair Spencer Weir-Daley and Dior Angus helped them to victory over Chesham.

Defender Orrin Pendley and Weir-Daley put the Reds ahead in the first half before Chesham’s Matt Bevans reduced the deficit.

Angus grabbed his sixth league goal of the season to seal the points late on, meaning Redditch have won four of their six opening Southern Premier fixtures.

After a tentative first quarter of an hour, Darren Byfield's men struck first thanks to some poor goalkeeping from Chesham’s Hafed Al-Droubi.

The stopper came for a corner but completely missed the ball, allowing Pendley to smash into an empty net in the 16th minute.

Redditch doubled their lead six minutes later and it was Al-Droubi again at fault. Weir-Daley brought down Pendley’s ball over the top and with the keeper in no man’s land, the experienced forward lifted his shot into the net from the edge of the area.

Chesham were back in the game in the 22nd minute, big midfielder Bevans firing in a low effort from 25 yards that beat Redditch keeper Ethan Ross.

The Generals began the second half searching for the equaliser and both David Hutton and Danny Green found Ross in inspired form.

Redditch midfielder Andi Thanoj’s effort from distance was tipped onto the post by Al-Droubi but the Reds made the points safe in the 77th minute.

Nathan Fox’s cross found Angus ten yards out and despite Al-Droubi’s best efforts, the striker’s header trickled over the line.
