HOOKER Jack Singleton believes Worcester Warriors were given a “wake-up call” by Birmingham Moseley.

And he insists the Aviva Premiership outfit are determined to come out with “all guns blazing” against Munster in their final pre-season friendly at Sixways tomorrow night (7.30pm).

National One side Moseley pulled off a shock 24-15 victory over Warriors at a rain-soaked Billesley Common last Friday.

Singleton admitted the sorry result showed Worcester were not where they wanted to be ahead of the new Aviva Premiership campaign next week.

“It was a really disappointing result but it is still early doors in pre-season,” said the 21-year-old.

“At the end of the day it was a bit of a wake-up call for us because at least we now know we are not where we thought we were.

“I think they did (surprise us).

“I don’t think we came out firing like we normally do and I felt like we got stuck in a bit of a rut during the game.”

The match was played in torrential weather but Singleton says they cannot use the conditions as an excuse for the way Warriors performed as Moseley scored three converted tries.

“We are a Premiership outfit coming to, no disrespect, a National One side so we should have put a better performance on and got the win,” he said.

“But all credit to them. They played the conditions better than us and deserved it.

“In the first 20 minutes of the second half and even when they went seven points up I still felt like we could have come back.

“But we were camped in our own half every time we tried to exit.

“They kicked better than us and just kept pinning us back so it felt like we were under pressure all the time.”

Warriors now face Munster who registered seven tries in a thumping 52-21 win in their last meeting 12 months ago.

But with a strong side set to line up against the Irish giants Singleton is confident his team-mates will put on a show on their own patch.

“We have got a real test against Munster where I think we will come out all guns blazing in front of our home crowd,” he said.

“I didn’t play last time in pre-season against them but I don’t think we did ourselves justice there so we have got them on our patch this time and I am sure everyone is going to turn up for that game.”
