REDDITCH Entaco reeled off a third straight win to move within two points of leaders Worcester CC after they eclipsed fellow title hopefuls Cookley by four wickets in Worcester County League Division One.

Cookley were inserted to bat first and made a promising start through openers Alex Roden and Jaiman Rudd who put on 73 for the first wicket.

Rudd was finally removed for 28 while Roden went onto make 62.

From that point Redditch's bowling attack took charge as they reduced Cookley for 177 all out in 46.2 overs.

Redditch skipper Russ Southwick revealed:" Once we'd broken the opening partnership, wickets began to fall at regular intervals.

"Everyone did their job with the ball, although we had to come off for half an hour through rain.

"But it was a good toss to win. Although it drizzled throughout the game, the wicket wasn't bad, so it's always better to bat second in that situation."

Redditch were given a revised total of 155 to chase in 40 overs when they replied, but made light of that target by racing to 156 for six with 15 overs to spare.

Greg Chinn with 31 and Tom Field on 25 gave Redditch a solid start before skipper Southwick scored 42 and Yassar Altaf 24 not out then saw them home.

Southwick added: "Greg Chinn got us off to a flyer by scoring 18 runs off the first over, although we did give away some cheap wickets towards the end.

"It was an outstanding performance and Cookley did well to get the game on.

"At the moment, the whole club is buzzing and that is filtering through to the 2's, 3's and 4's as well."

FECKENHAM suffered the frustration of an abandoned game against top of the table Worcester CC.

That was after Feckenham had reached 76 for four from 25 overs with opening bat Danny Bloomer going strong on 43 not out.

Feckenham remain sixth as a result and will look to improve that position when they visit Pedmore on Saturday while Redditch Entaco entertain bottom side Droitwich at Bromsgrove Road.
