“CLASS act” Jack Singleton has received glowing praise from former England forward Phil Dowson ahead of his senior international debut.

The 21-year-old hooker has been handed a starting jersey for the Old Mutual Wealth Cup clash with the Barbarians on Sunday (3pm).

His Worcester Warriors team-mate Will Spencer could also make his England bow after being named on the bench.

Singleton’s outing at Twickenham will cap a remarkable season having made his first appearance in the Aviva Premiership for Worcester against Northampton Saints in November.

The academy ace went on to make 20 first-team appearances for Warriors last term, including 10 in the top flight.

He has previously starred at England under 20s level but will now play alongside established international aces Chris Robshaw, Danny Care, George Ford and Mike Brown.

Dowson, who has recently hung up his boots to take up a coaching role at Saints, said he had been impressed with Singleton during his continued on page 47 two seasons at Sixways.

And the 35-year-old predicts a bright future for the front row who penned a professional deal with Warriors earlier this year.

“Jack is a class act,” said Dowson who won seven England caps.

“He is young, English and has got all the attributes as he can throw, run and is powerful. But he is also intelligent, professional and really committed.

“I have been really impressed with him.”

Singleton, who joined Warriors’ academy in 2014 from Saracens, is among eight uncapped players in Eddie Jones’ starting XV.
