NEW Ravens Rugby League Club and Birmingham Bulldogs battled hard in tough conditions to play out a high scoring game.

Bulldogs began in clinical fashion with the first four tries before Ravens' David Swaysland crossed the line for a try which was easily converted by David Wimbury.

This gave the Ravens some encouragement and Jonnie Mills drilled forward for a classic try.

Captain Liam Dunne wanted his chance at the line and drove forward strongly to get his first of the game again converted by Wimbury.

As the hail stones came down hard the Bulldogs answered back with three more tryies before half time giving the Bulldogs the lead 38-16 at the break.

Bulldogs started the second half as they did the first and got two quick tries but Ravens' Dan Patrice wasn’t going to let them get away lightly and scored wide in the corner.

Bulldogs hit straight back to score again before Dunne replied for Ravens with a try which was converted by Wimbury.

The game flowed from end-to-end, Bulldogs scored before debutant Scott Rudge ploughing through their defence to score his first try in a Ravens jersey, again converted by Wimbury.

Although Ravens fought back hard in the second half it was too little to late and the game finished NEW Ravens 32 – 70 Birmingham Bulldogs.

Ravens are next in action away at Derby on Saturday June 3.
