OUT of sorts Alcester Bowling Club continued their poor run of results despite picking up a couple of prized victories.

Alcester made a winning start to their Birmingham over-60's League with a 51 shot success over Colebrook B.

There were excellent wins for husband and wife Renny (21-2) and Jean Bannister (21-3), backed up by Ken Harvey (21-10) and David Whittington (21-12).

Alcester also claimed an encouraging 24 shot victory over Yardley Wood Social Club in Division Two of the Yardley Super League.

Dave Hovell, Carole Slater and David Whittington all won 21-13, backed up by Jean and Renny Bannister (21-15) and Jean Sherrington 21-19.

But the remaining results all went downhill.

Alcester lost to Bournville Sports B by a huge 62 shot margin when only Margaret D'Elia and Gill Evans could return winning cards.

Brian Lees bagged the only winning card for Alcester as they crashed by a massive 86 shot reverse to Austin British Legion.

Alcester's B team also went down to White Hart B by 17 shots despite excellent cards from Val McDermott (21-5) and David Hodgson (21-7).

There were also wins for Red Masterson and Margaret D'Elia but they couldn't stop White Hart from going top of the table.

Alcester's A team match in the over-60's section of the Heart of England League was called off owing to a waterlogged green, while the B team lost to Marston Green A by 15 shots despite David Hodgson and David Whittington both winning 21-11.
