STUDLEY secured their survival in Midland League Division One after pulling off a prized 2-1 win at Uttoxeter Town.

Danny Ludlow put Studley ahead only for Jake Lovatt to level matters with little more than 10 minutes remaining.

It was war horse striker Matt Dorgan who despatched the winner to make sure Studley finish clear of the relegation zone.

Relieved Studley manager Keith Draper admitted: "I couldn't settle all week before the game. I didn't want to be known as the manager who took Studley down.

"I promised to keep them up when I arrived at the club and I desperately didn't want to let people down."

Draper was also quick to praise his players and said: "When they came here, they all knew they would be in a relegation fight, but they stuck to the task and everyone of them believed we would get out of it. Their commitment and enthusiasm has been second to none.

"It was summed up by Luke Dugmore. He phoned me at 12 noon on Saturday to tell me his wife had gone into labour. But he got his mum to cover, came to the game and played."

Draper confirmed he has already started planning for next season.

But Studley still have plenty to play for at the moment.

They travel to Littleton on Wednesday night to play a Worcester Infirmary Cup semi-final.

Then on Saturday, Studley complete their Midland League campaign at home against next to bottom Pelsall Villa, who are fighting for their lives to avoid relegation.

Studley then travel to Leamington next Tuesday to take on Coventry Copsewood in the Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Cup final.

And if Studley prove victorious against Littleton, they will then face Bromyard Town in the Worcester Infirmary Cup Final which takes place at Malvern Town's ground on May 6.
