SUPER Studley continued their excellent run of form by following up their 4-2 midweek win at fellow strugglers Pelsall Villa with a 1-1 draw against title-chasing Hinckley AFC at the weekend in front of a bumper crowd at the Beehive.

It means Studley have only lost once in their last 13 games but still remain in a relegation dog-fight as teams around them also continue to pick up points.

Studley boss Keith Draper said: " We defended as though our lives depended upon it against Hinckley, but I was still devastated when I came off the pitch because I knew fellow strugglers Pershore Town had won.

"I couldn't ask for more from my players. Some of them are delaying holidays and swapping shifts at work so they can play.

"It's just a shame we made such a poor start to the season because only top of the table Bromsgrove Sporting are showing better league form than us at the moment."

Studley put Pelsall to the sword in the first half by racing into a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from Luke Dugmore, Danny Ludlow, Gareth Evans, with his 23rd league strike of the season, plus an outstanding effort from Chris Cowley, who ran the length of the pitch before lobbing the goalkeeper.

The Hinckley clash was a different matter as Studley rode their luck at times.

Hinckley hit the woodwork on no less than four occasions but Studley had chances themselves, especially when Gareth Evans missed a penalty.

Evans was also sent off with 10 minutes remaining but Studley kept Hinckley at bay to share the points, Danny Ludlow's goal being cancelled out by Hinckley's Javia Roberts before half time.

Studley's battle to beat the drop resumes on Saturday with a trip to high-flying Lichfield City before entertaining Uttoxeter Town the following Tuesday.

Draper added: "The side has been growing in stature and I believe we will be safe with two more wins from our six remaining games."
