ALCESTER remain right in the thick of Midland Division Four West South's title chase after picking up a maximum points 31-5 win over Kings Norton.

Just two points currently separate the top three sides with Alcester locked in a thrilling title chase along with leaders Bromyard and third place Stoke Old Boys.

Alcester were made to work hard by a Kings Norton side that belied their lowly position.

It took Alcester 25 minutes to open their account when back row player George Green made the initial break before full back Oscar Holland sent Jamie Harland racing over for the breakthrough try which fly half Josh O'Connor converted.

Flanker Ben Hope added a second unconverted try before scrum half Robbie Parker provided a third, which O'Connor improved upon as Alcester led 19-0 at the break.

The second half saw further tries from skipper Jack Green, winger Lewis Walker and back row player Lee Avery-Sherwood, with 18-year-old O'Connor adding one more conversion.

Kings Norton kept going and clinched a late consolation try while Alcester were down to 14 players after prop Sam Lear was sent to the sin bin.

Alcester have the chance to go top when they travel to bottom side Keresley of Coventry this Saturday, which is the only Midlands Four West South game taking place.

ALCESTER'S success is also rubbing off of some of their other sides.

The Second XV, supported by several players from Woodrush, beat Claverdon Seconds 45-33 where Matt Ashby and Ollie Morrison both secured two tries, Ashby also adding four conversions.

Alcester Colts obtained an excellent eight try success over Tamworth.

Cian Allen led the way with a hat-trick of tries while Cavan Farrow and James Gionis both added two more as Alcester ran out 55-0 winners.

Harry Adams converted four of the tries while Victor Lazarov supplied another.
