ALCESTER Town had to settle for a goalless draw when they travelled to Moors Academy in Midland League Division Three.

Player manager Danny Janes gave a debut to 18-year-old goalkeeper Dan Norcott with regular shotstoppers Richard Layton and Jack Turner both unavailable.

Norcott didn't disappoint and was soon called into action when he tipped an early goalbound shot from Moors round the post.

Both Josh Moore and Myles Jones had chances to score for Alcester in a blank first half and the pattern continued after the break with Jones unable to convert a glorious opportunity at the far post while substitute Daniel Mumford missed out when denied by a last-ditch tackle.

Janes said: " I think the draw was a fair result in what was a very tactical game.

"Both sides had fantastic opportunities to win the game, but neither could produce that moment of quality."

Alcester have a local derby on their hands this week when they entertain Inkberrow at Stratford Road.
