REDDITCH lost interest in this season's North Midlands Vase Plate competition after crashing to a 40-25 defeat at Aldridge.

Sam Gladwin soon kicked Redditch into an early lead with a successful penalty shot.

But that proved as good as it got for Redditch who were blown away by the half hour mark as Aldridge ran in four tries within the space of 20 minutes to lead 26-3.

Determined straight running coupled with some excellent support play spelt disaster for Redditch who didn't help matters with some poor tackling.

Redditch did manage to reduced the deficit before half time with a well taken try from Gladwin to make the score 26-8.

Another try in the second half from Barry Foster-Smith gave Reds a glimmer of hope, but it didn't last as Aldridge went onto extend their lead and never looked like relinquishing it.

Mark Green and Bryn Williams managed to score further tries for Redditch but it proved too little, too late.

Redditch return to Midlands Four West South duty this Saturday with a trip to Coventry Welsh.
