NOW is not the time to blame the coaches for “errors” and “missed tackles”, according to Worcester Warriors back row forward Marco Mama.

And the former Bristol flanker insists it is important for Worcester’s players put their own “house in order” to help safeguard their Aviva Premiership status.

Struggling Warriors were thrashed 55-19 in their last Premiership outing at Gloucester which ranked as one of their poorest performances this season.

“You have to keep working and training hard and when you get an opportunity you have to put your best game out there,” said Mama, who will wear the number seven shirt at Brive tomorrow in the European Challenge Cup (8pm GMT).

“There were a lot of errors against Gloucester and you can’t hide away from errors.

“We conceded driving mauls and missed a lot of tackles and there is only so much the coaches can do – they can’t go out and play for you.

"It would be interesting to see Hoggy (head coach Carl Hogg) play at the moment.”

Mama added: “At times like this it’s very easy for everyone to look around and say ‘It’s the fault of the coaches and I don’t agree what they are saying’. But it’s important we look at ourselves and make sure we have our house in order.”

Mama first joined Warriors before the start of the last campaign on loan from Bristol.

He arrived at Sixways on a permanent basis in the summer and only returned to action last month after tearing his hamstring at Bath in September.

He said: “I am happy to play anywhere across the back row as long as I am on the pitch.

“It doesn’t really matter what number I have on my back because I still try to put my game on the pitch.

"Some coaches prefer certain styles and try to find a blend in the back row. I just try to do as well as I can.”
