ALCESTER Town produced a below par first half performance at third from bottom Coventrians and duly crashed 3-1 in Midland League Division Three.

Coventrians ran riot in the opening 45 minutes to go 3-0 up at the break with goalkeeper Jack Turner left helpless to stem the onslaught on each occasion.

Alcester player-manager Danny Janes rang the changes at half time and his side produced an improved display after the interval and pulled a goal back when Chris Hill headed home a Tom Higgins cross.

Afterwards Janes pulled no punches, he said: "We were awful and deserved nothing from the game. Our first half performance was embarrassing.

"A number of players contacted me after the game to apologise. I respect that but they really need to address things on the pitch."

Alcester have lost the services of defender Chris Hill who has joined Midland Premier League side Tividale but Janes has responded by signing Ashley Bunn who has been sidelined for several months with a serious knee injury.

This Saturday Alcester entertain second from bottom Castle Vale Town in a Midland League match.
