IMPRESSIVE Alvechurch wrapped up a comprehensive 3-0 win against a robust Rocester side to stay top of the Midland Football League Premier Division this week.

Two well taken goals from midfield man Dave Bellis were sandwiched either side of a Josh March strike, his 19th of the season making him the league's leading marksman.

Church boss Ian Long said: "We were 3-0 up by half time and coasting. If I had any criticism, is was the fact we should have scored another three or four goals as defensively, we weren't tested.

"I wasn't happy with some of the challenges which took place. I spoke to the referee before the start of the game and asked him to watch the tackles, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.

"We didn't get any protection and it got to the point where we had to take Josh March off because he was getting some particularly harsh treatment.

"However the physical aspect played into our hands because it made us move the ball more quickly on what proved a difficult pitch."

Long included new signing Reece Shilvock from Stourport Swifts who came off the bench for his debut.

Long added: "Swifts waived the seven days notice which enabled Reece to play. We did the same for Swifts when they had Arran Lloyd from us.

The Church will look to consolidate their top spot when they take on third from bottom Tividale this Saturday at Lye Meadow.
