REDDITCH reeled off a compelling 25-7 success over fourth placed Pershore to improve their prospects in Midlands 4 West South.

The match was preceded by a minutes silence in memory of Chris Partridge who tragically lost his life while playing for Woodrush Vets against Redditch the previous weekend.

Following a scrappy opening, Redditch steadily gained control and took the lead when Bryn Williams sent Mark Green racing clear, only to be pulled down on Pershore's line, but he managed to offload the ball for skipper Gareth Davies to score by the posts with Will Heath converting.

Fly half Heath suffered an ankle injury soon after and debut boy Sam Gladwin took over the kicking duties and duly converted a penalty to put Redditch 10-0 ahead by half time.

Pershore pegged Redditch back in the second half with an interception which saw their winger race 60 metres and score a converted try despite the efforts of Mark Green to chase him down.

But Pershore never threatened Redditch's line from that point and the lead was soon extended as Joe Alekna barged his way over for a try from the base of a scrum before the ball was then thrown down the line for Sam Gladwin to score from 20 metres out.

Bryn Williams then rounded off a very satisfactory afternoon for Redditch with a fourth and bonus point try.

Redditch will be out for revenge this Saturday when they entertain local rivals Kings North in the North Midlands Vase Plate.
