REDDITCH United boss Darren Byfield says he could bring new faces to the club after being hit with a host of injury concerns.

The Reds bowed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Monday night as former boss Liam McDonald saw his Hednesford Town side through by the slenderest of margins.

The Pitmen won 2-1 despite Clayton McDonald netting from the penalty spot for United.

However, the clash left Redditch with even more injury troubles ahead of this Saturday's important FA Trophy tie against Cambridge City at the Valley Stadium.

Nat Kelly, Max Loveridge, Reece Hales, Paul Aspostolopoulos, Jordan Liburd, Eli Bako, Dave McDermott and George Washbourne will all need to be assessed ahead of the weekend.

Duane Courtney is already out of the game due to suspension.

Byfield said: "We have a lot of injuries at the moment and we won't know who will be available until closer to the weekend.

"We have about eight people struggling so we will have to look at bringing people in to help us deal with that.

"The game is big for the club because we want to progress. I don't care how we play on Saturday, the main thing is that we get through.

"It would be great for the lads to get on a cup run and financially it is also a boost for the club.

"A good cup run can also breed confidence in the league."

Redditch go into this Saturday's contest without a win in three.

Before the visit of Hednesford, the Reds had suffered a 2-0 league defeat against Leamington last Tuesday and had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Dorchester Town last Saturday.

Byfield was pleased with a point from the Dorchester clash but felt defensive errors cost them on Monday night.

He said: "I think it was a good point for us at Dorchester. Neither side did enough to get the win but I was happy with it and we looked very solid.

"Hednesford were quicker out of the blocks and we were lucky not to be further behind at half time. We changed things in the second half and did much better, but individual mistakes have ended up costing us again.

"It has been a feature of our season and is something I need to address. We seem to be lacking the will to put our heads and bodies on the line."
