STRUGGLING Studley remain hovering just above the relegation zone despite having lost 3-0 at Heath Hayes in Midland League Division One.

It could have been a different story had Danny Pitt not had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside when the score was just 1-0.

Studley spokesman Bob Fletcher insisted: "It was a much improved performance and the scoreline did flatter Heath Hayes who admitted we didn't play like a struggling side.

"Danny Pitt's goal should have stood because the officials missed a back-pass which led to the goal. I'm not saying we would have gone onto win, but it could have changed the outlook of the game."

Pitt is one of several new arrivals at the Beehive and has already made his mark by netting the only goal in a much needed 1-0 win over Southam United in the Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Cup.

That victory brought a halt to Studley's worrying string of defeats which had seen them leak 25 goals in their previous four games.

Consequently manager Kevin Kingham has brought in a number of new faces, including striker Danny Pitt from Pelsall Villa.

Kingham has also captured former Bromsgrove Sporting midfield man Danny Ludlow plus central defender Matt Ross from Henley Forest.

Full back Sam Hawker has also returned to Studley following a spell at Pilkington, while another full back Keith Draper has also joined Studley from Cadburys.

Keith's father, also named Keith, has arrived as assistant to Kevin Kingham having previously been at Earlswood Town and Bromsgrove Sporting.

Kingham has also suggested there will be more new arrivals ahead of Saturday's trip to Nuneaton Griff.
