FECKENHAM Cricket Club celebrated a red letter day after winning promotion to the top flight of Worcester County League for the first time in their history.

Fabulous Feckenham sealed their success with a five wicket win over Enville, who were relegated as a result.

That was after Enville posted a huge 298 for eight total which Feckenham managed to chase down with 11 balls to spare.

Opener Dan Bloomer carried his bat to finish on 108 not out while Jamie Griffiths fired a further 69 before Matt Henning completed a memorable match by finishing with a six as Feckenham reached 301 for five.

Chairman Keith Henning couldn't hide his delight and claimed: "It's been a wonderful season, especially as our Second XI also obtained promotion.

"We managed to hang onto Redditch's coat tails and we can't wait for next season."

Henning points to their victory over Lye which proved the turning point of their season and explained: "We were the only game to take place in Division Two that weekend because of the rain. We had to bowl out Lye inside 18 overs - but somehow we managed it in 11.

"That win gave us 24 points and enabled us to overtake Chaddesley Corbett, who were second at the time."

As a result of their promotion, Feckenham will now have to run three sides next season.

The Thirds will be playing at Hewell and Feckenham are already on the lookout for new players.
