FECKENHAM enjoyed an excellent weekend of results with both Saturday teams and the Sunday T20 side winning vitally important games for the Millers.

The first team, who play in Worcestershire League Division Two, edged out Coombs Wood by 48 runs in a feisty encounter to move within a few points of their rivals.

Feckenham won the toss and elected to bat in favourable conditions and made the most of this advantage by posting a highly competitive 280 in their 50 overs.

This was largely due to a resilient 72 from opener Luke Jackson and a fast-paced 71 not out from Josh Stacey as he continued his impressive season.

In reply, Coombs Wood looked in control at 200-4 with 19 overs to spare before an inspired bowling change saw leg spinner Jamie Griffiths handed the ball.

This change turned the game around as his 4-23, supported by some excellent catching in the deep, meant that Coombs Wood collapsed to 232 all out.

Feckenham remain in fourth but the result helped close the gap on teams above them.

They face a tough derby test at leaders Redditch on Saturday (1pm ko).

The second team completed an excellent day for the Millers by battering Oldswinford in a 93-run victory.

The game was all but ended in the first innings after Feckenham hit 333-3 after being asked to bat.

Opener Andrew J Kings hit 155 to complete his third consecutive hundred, while namesake Andy Kings hit an unbeaten 100.

Oldswinford were simply batting for pride but did manage to make a respectable 240-7 in reply, with youngster Fraser Duggan the pick of the Feckenham bowlers with 2-20.

The result means Feckenham seconds remain top of Division Two.

To top off a memorable weekend for the club, Feckenham’s Sunday team booked their place in the Canterbury Cup final at New Road with an exciting five-wicket win over Bretforton.

After being set a challenging 168 to win, valuable contributions from Jamie Griffiths (40), William Davies (44) and Josh Stacey (45) meant that Feckenham reached their total with four balls to spare.

Tom Coulson was the pick of the Feckenham bowlers with 1-15 off his four overs to help restrict Bretforton.

The final will take place on September 11.
