CAPTAIN Greg Chinn starred with the bat and ball as Redditch Entaco outgunned Enville by 81 runs in Worcestershire League Division One.

The skipper was in devastating form as he opened the bat with a rapid 81 runs off 77 balls and then took an impressive 6-20 in eight overs.

Victory ensured the leaders kept up their 37 point lead over second-placed Chaddesley Corbett, as they maintained their push for promotion and tried to bounce back immediately from last season's relegation.

Redditch had won the toss and made an impressive 302-9 in 50 overs.

While Chinn got the ball rolling but Russell Southwick maintained the run rate with a fine 79, while Dan Protherough's 44 also helped Redditch to a big score.

Enville got off to good start in reply as Spencer Mann (48) and Greg Tomkins (104) filled their boots but the introduction of Chinn changed the direction of the game as he dismissed the in-form pair.

He then removed Matthew Branch, Rhodri Parfill, Mich Jones and George Roberts.

Waqas Ali and Kevin Lokereath also chipped in as Enville were dismissed for 221.

Club spokesman Gary Fisher said: "It was a very good performance and Greg changed the game when he came onto bowl.

"Once their in-form batsmen went Enville fell apart.

"We scored runs very quickly as well, with Russell Southwick and Dan Protherough really going for it."

Redditch face a vital three week period in their title chase, starting with a tough home derby clash against resurgent Feckenham, who have risen to fourth on Saturday (1pm start).

The Kingfishers then go to second-placed Chaddesley on August 6, followed by a home clash against third-placed Coombs Wood on August 13.

Meanwhile, the seconds got the better of Colwall by 20 runs, while the thirds defeated Stourbridge by 62 runs.

Redditch's over-45s team got the better of Earlswood by eight runs to progress in the Worcestershire County Cricket Board knockout competition, with Geoff Eley scoring 53 runs.
