REDDITCH racer Trystan Finocchiaro put in a strong effort in the latest round of the UK Aprilia Championship at Oulton Park.

The fifth round was a pivotal moment for the riders, because the one-day event meant double points for each race. There was the added uncertainty of the UK’s most scenic, weather-changing and challenging racing track to ensure the recipe for racing of spectacular quality.

Oulton 2016 did not disappoint the thousands of spectators and many more TV viewers providing high speed, incident-packed, elbow-to-elbow racing.

Finocchiaro converted a P6 grid position into a fourth-placed race finish in race one with personal best sector times during a heart-stopping, inter-passing, five- rider dash for the podium.

The second Aprilia 450 GT race took place in heavy rain in which Finocchiaro battled through the spray-laden conditions, showing great wet-race skills, to a last lap third place spot.

But he suffered disappointment when he was taken out in a spectacular three-bike incident at a chicane, which was great for the TV, but disappointing for the Redditch race ace.

The day’s series of events at Oulton still left him sixth in the overall Aprilia Championship listings with four meetings still to go.

The next round is at Rockingham on July 30 and 31.
