ANDREW Robinson faces the most important fight of his professional career when he faces Sheffield’s Sam Sheedy for the right to challenge for a top title.

The Redditch pugilist’s middleweight clash on July 30 at the Magna Centre in Rotherham is a title elimination bout.

The British Board of Boxing Control (BBBC) have deemed that the winners can face either Tommy Langford, who is Commonwealth champion, or British title holder Chris Eubank Junior.

The two men are set to face for a high profile clash by the end of November, meaning that if Robinson overcomes his opponent he has a shot at two major belts.

Robinson, nicknamed ‘D’Animal’, is currently deep into his training camp, but is working intensively at the Butcher’s Shop Gym in Chelmsley Wood, run by respected coach John Costello, and has been sparring with Birmingham boxing star Frankie Gavin and Swindon’s highly-respect Jamie Cox.

Robinson’s manager PJ Rowson said: “The fight was originally going to be a eliminator the Commonwealth title, but the BBBC decided last week that it would also determine who would fight Chris Eubank Jr for his title.

“This is a massive change for Andy and he’s telling me he’s never worked so hard or feels as good as shape as this.”

Robinson faces a tough test against the gifted Sheedy, who will have the backing of the home crowd and a similar record to Robinson with just one loss in 18 professional bouts. Rowson added: “This is a big test for Andy, he’s fighting in backyard of his opponent Sam is quality."
