ALVECHURCH have arranged a pre-season friendly at Bromyard Town tonight (7.45pm ko).

Church had originally been set to play Cradley but the Black Country outfit had to cancel because of pitch concerns.

But the club have organised a clash at Delahay Meadow.

“We had planned eight games in pre-season that would build up the lads’ fitness and the attitude has been very good so far," said manager Ian Long.

“We’ve had a marine in over the weekend and he worked them very hard.”

Meanwhile, the club is still looking to strengthen ahead of the 2016-17 season in the Midlands Premier.

While many of the squad who finished runners-up behind Hereford have remained, several members of that group have moved on.

But Long won’t be rushed into signing players.

He said: “We have kept many of the players from last season and we only want to bring in ones who will improve the squad.

“There is a lot of money being spent by other clubs so we’ll see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Alvechurch have been drawn in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup at Haughmond, with the winners set to play Hereford at Edgar Street.

Long added: “We have a tough match at Haughmond and the reward is Hereford. It would be great to play them again after last season’s title battle.”
