REDDITCH Entaco batsman Rizwen Mohammad Choudry rewrote the record books when he struck a sensational 231 runs against a shellshocked Bromyard in Worcester County League Division Two this week.

Choudry cracked an incredible 24 sixes in his boundary laden innings off just 110 balls.

He beat the previous best divisional record which was set by John Hancock of Worcester Dominies when he hit 220 not out against Romsley and Hunnington back in 2012.

Choundry also produced the highest Redditch score for a league match beating Dan Proutherough's previous record of 180 against Worcester CC which has stood since 2005

Remarkably on each occasion both sides scored a total of 393 in the carnage.

Choundry also shared a first wicket partnership of 243 with Jack Roberson who supplied 70 of that total.

Credit to Bromyard who refused to capitulate after Choundry's batting onslaught.

They responded by reaching 192 for three in reply, Edd Oliver with 88 not out and Rob Willis on 80 not out sharing an unbroken fourth wicket partnership of 188.

But they couldn't match the previous batting heroics as Redditch went onto record a massive winning margin of 201 runs.

The result has left runaway Redditch some 50 points clear at the top from closest challengers Chaddesley Corbett as they look to bounce back after being relegated from the top flight last season.

Redditch spokesman Daren Field admitted: "We're taking Division Two by storm this season and that was after losing key players Luke Davis and Perry Derrick last term.

"We have a very young side this season with most of the players under 25 years old having come through our own junior system.

"Greg Chinn has taken over the captaincy and we've proved a lot more positive on the pitch as a result."

Redditch should be strengthened even further soon with South African overseas player Codey Poole set to return later this month after injuring his knee right at the start of the season.

Daren Field added: "Codey scored 97 in his first game but then got injured and went back to South African to seek treatment from his father who is a physiotherapist."
