FECKENHAM pulled off a fabulous 29-run win over Bromyard to remain third in the Worcestershire County League Division Two.

The foundation for victory was built around a second-wicket stand of 145 between opening bat Danny Bloomer and Jamie Griffiths.

Feckenham reached 300 for seven from 48 overs in the face of some accurate seam bowling from Bromyard’s South African player Josh Van Rensburg (five for 43).

Bromyard looked well set in reply as openers Greg Leighton (59) and Edd Oliver (52) put on 109 for the first wicket.

George Leighton kept the scoreboard ticking over before slow bowler Neil Evans altered the game in remarkable circumstances.

Evans was struck in the mouth by the ball and had to leave the field of play.

Opening bat Luke Jackson said: “We told him to go and get his mouth stitched up as there was blood all over the place, but we couldn’t get rid of him.

“He only missed one over and came back to bowl, taking two wickets in his next over, which completely changed the game.”

The dismissals put the brake on Bromyard, who finally closed on 271 for four with Evans claiming three for 32.

Feckenham will look to extend their three-match winning aT Evesham on Saturday.
