ALCESTER Bowling Club bagged a hard fought 22 point win over Yardley Wood Social in Northfield League Division Three.

Although both teams had four winners apiece, Alcester took the six points thanks to the efforts of John Alderson who carded an outstanding 21-3 while Jean Bannister had an excellent 21-7.

Further victories from Ken Harvey 21-12 and Dave Hovell 21-13 did the trick.

Both Alcester sides in the South and West Birmingham Over-60's League proved victorious.

Alcester A entertained Woodlands Park B in Division Six and overwhelmed them by a thumping 72 shot margin.

Jean Bannister continued her splendid form and led the way with a 21-3 card supported by David Whittington 21-4, Ken Craddock 21-6, Renny Bannister 21-7, and John Slater 21-8.

Alcester B went to West Midlands Travel B and beat them by 32 shots to register the club's only away win of the week.

Wins came from Trish Barry 21-6, Ken Harvey 21-8, David Hodgson 21-13 and Jean Sherrington 21-16.

Alcester A took on Hockley Heath A in the Heart of England League and recorded a 16 shot win.

Alcester winners were Ken Harvey 21-8, Brian Lees and Renny Bannister both 21-12, Dave Hovell 21-13, John Slater 21-15 and Ken Craddock 21-18.

The B team missed out by a single shot at Black Horse B in Division Four.

Despite a brilliant 21-1 card by Red Masterson and wins from Margaret D'Elia 21-13 and Carole Slater 21-14, Alcester lost out in the closest match of the season so far.

In the Heart of England League's Over-60's section both Alcester teams suffered defeat.

The A side lost by five shots to Ye Olde Knowle A while the B team proved a player short and went down by 52 shots to Co-Op B.
