REDDITCH’S development side had plenty to celebrate this week when they were confirmed as Hereford and Worcestershire Merit League Division Three champions.
The squad, which acts as feeder side to the Redditch first team, capped an impressive season by claiming their first merit league title in over five years in a season that also included wins over rivals Alcester and Woodrush.
Captain Jason Furness said: “It’s been an amazing season for the club with the development side not only winning our league but also bringing through more than a dozen young players to make their senior rugby debuts.
“To top a division containing sides from Kidderminster and Dudley Kingswinford is no easy task and shows that the club has a bright future.”
The club based on Bromsgrove Road are always looking to add new players of all ages and experience and with two senior sides, a over-35 side, plus a ladies team and a thriving junior section, everyone is welcome to give it a go.
