Alcester 8, Redditch 19

REDDITCH claimed local bragging rights as they saw off Alcester at Kings Coughton in the Midlands Division Four West (South).

Alcester had taken the lead when Alex Chiles touched down but the Kingfishers levelled the scores when Gareth Davies went over after good work by Peter Hunt.

Redditch defended well and Alcester continued to play some expansive rugby in an entertaining game.

Tom Saddington edged the away side ahead when he scored and converted a try.

A score for Bryn Williams then extended Redditch’s lead to 19-5.

Despite a Matt Ashby penalty, Redditch help on for an important derby win.

Credit must go to both teams who wanted to play expansive rugby. Also Stan Hull, who was injured during the warm up, is wished a speedy recovery.

Redditch return to a home fixture against Atherstone on Saturday, April 2.

Meanwhile, Alcester have a week off from action before visiting Stoke Old Boys.
