STUDLEY returned to action with a bang but suffered contrasting results.
The Bees, who had not played since Boxing Day, took on Dudley Sports in the Birmingham Midlands Floodlit Cup and won 5-2, with goals for Dan Byford, Dan Stokes, Vagnol Kediambiko and Joseph Knight (2).
But they paid the price for playing two days later when they went down 5-0 to Leicester Road.
Studley were out of sorts in the first half and were trailing 4-0 by half-time, although they improved after the break.
Brendan Bunn saved a penalty after Orrin Pendley was adjudged to have fouled a Leicester Road player – and was sent off because he was the last defender.
However, Studley believe that another Bees man was guilty of the infringement and are set to appeal his dismissal.
Leicester Road bagged an injury-time goal to seal their victory.
Manager Kevin Kingham said: “The Dudley game was a hard one on Thursday and we were a bit patched-up for Saturday.
“Leicester Road started well but I thought we recovered well and controlled the second half.
“I felt for Orrin because he had just come back from suspension and was not the guilty man in this case.
“He was the last player but he didn’t foul the Leicester Road man.”
Studley now face Leicester Road at home on Saturday (3pm ko).
