REDDITCH United manager Liam McDonald believes his players will be spurred on by Saturday's draw against Biggleswade.

United made it eight games unbeaten in the Southern League Premier as they cemented third place.

Daniel Dubidat and George Carline were on target but Sam Merson, son of former Aston Villa and Arsenal attacker Paul, and Philip Hardisty ensured it was honours even.

McDonald said: "We were at our best but we had plenty of chances early on and it could have been a different story if we had taken one of those.

"We made some mistakes but the lads will learn from them and they were so disappointed after the game. I've no doubt they will use that feeling to bounce back."

Redditch now have four games at home in a row, starting with Saturday's clash against St Neots (3pm ko), followed up by Kettering next Monday (7.45pm ko), Paulton Rovers and Frome.

"I said to the lads when we were unbeaten in five games that I would love us to stretch that to ten.

"We've got an opportunity to do that. Our home form has been good but we've never quite made the Valley Stadium a fortress and it would be great to do that with these games.

"We've lost one game at home all season, so we're doing a lot of things right."

Meanwhile, defender Jamie Ashmore has returned to Bedworth United, the club left to join Redditch in the summer.

The right-back has struggled to dislodge Kyle Haynes, who has made the position his own.

McDonald is also keen to bolster his squad and is set to made several seven-day approaches for targets this week.

McDonald said: "Kyle has made the right back position his own and Jamie could not get in.

"With Jim Mutton and Will Richards solid in central defence and Callum Flanagan doing well at left-back he was not playing as much as he would have liked.

"The chairman has always been very supportive and I have explained that I would like to strengthen in certain areas."
