Slough Town 0, Redditch United 2

United’s impressive league run continued as a goal at either end of this match made it five straight wins in the Southern League Premier Division.

The breakthrough came after just seven minutes and followed some excellent work from midfield maestro Jamey Osborne who beat two defenders, played a neat one-two with Jamie Molyneux before pulling the ball back for skipper Danny Dubidat to slot home from close range.

Two minutes it could have been 2-0 when Luke Shearer was put in the clear but he was denied by a brave save from Slough’s Mark Scott.

Five minutes later it was Slough to went close when skipper Gary MacDonald clipped the crossbar when he got his head on a corner.

But the Reds survived and dominated the remainder of the half, Jamie Ashmore being denied by another good Scott save.

The visitors started the second half in a similar fashion with George Carline putting an effort just wide before Ashmore went close with a curling effort after he had cut in off the wing.

Redditch finally doubled their advantage ten minutes from time. A quick free-kick from Osborne picked out Ashore on the overlap and when his shot was parried by Scott, Molyneux was on hand to turn home the rebound.

The goal spurred the home side into creating their best chances of the game but they found United keeper Jose Veiga in top form as he kept out a well-struck Jack Parsons effort and then an acrobatic Warren Harris chance.
