REDDITCH CC captain Luke Davis believes his side need to find some grit as they look to ease their relegation worries in Worcestershire Division One.

The Kingfishers demonstrated plenty of spirit in Saturday's defeat to Colwall and end their poor run of form with the bat.

But a fourth straight defeat leaves them hovering above the drop zone with a three point advantage over Pedmore.

Davis won the toss and opted to bat first and they got off to a promising start, making 44 runs before Rizwan Choudry (33)was caught by James Abel off the bowling of Michael Gooch.

Redditch suffered a wobble mid-order but tail enders Joe Scarcella smashed 44 runs off 21 balls as they made 212-8 in 50 overs.

Ben Cooke (73) and Ben Butler (40) ensured Colwall made 213-7 in 49 overs.

Davis said: "We started very well but had lost some wickets before Joe added some runs with a knock late on.

"We're our own worse enemy to be honest and there were times when we got dismissed to easily.

"We're in a tough situation and we need to win more games but the encouraging thing is I know we are good enough."

Gregg Chin is set to miss Saturday's clash at Belbroughton (1pm start).
