LIAM McDonald is chasing two more new faces as he looks to bolster his Redditch United squad.

The Reds boss has identified a defensive midfielder and central defender who have experience of playing in the Southern League Premier.

He hopes to tie up his targets by the end of his week as his summer rebuilding plans continue apace.

McDonald has already been busy in the transfer window with a host of new faces.

United pulled off a major coup last week when they signed the versatile defender Will Richards from local rivals Stourbridge.

Richards, who had signed a one year contract at United, had originally played for Redditch but joined Stourbridge in the summer of 2013 and played at the War Memorial Ground for two years.

“Will has signed a one-year deal and I think this is a great addition,” said McDonald.

“His time at Stourbridge has improved him as a player and I think he will strike up a good partnership with Jim Mullett.

“He’s been played in several positions but I think he needs to focus on playing in central defence.

“He’s a quiet lad but leads by example and was extremely popular with the fans.”

United have already signed midfielder Robbie Bunn, Daniel Dubidat, Jamie Ashmore and keeper Kieran Preston.

Meanwhile, the club have revealed their retained list for the 2015-16 season, with the majority of the squad who finished sixth in the Southern League Premier in April.

In defence, Jim Mutton, Callum Flanagan, Joel Caines and Jordan Liburd have been kept on.

Midfielders Simeon Maye, Liam Spink, George Carline and Max Loveridge are staying, while forwards Jamie Molyneux and Luke Shearer have stayed.
