CAPTAIN Luke Davis hopes Redditch would be able to build on their first win of the season in Worcestershire Division One.

The Kingfishers' found their form with the bat as they saw off Burghill and Tillington by 50 runs.

The Reds won the toss and elected to bat first and posted what proved to be a more than competitive 209-9 in their 50 overs.

Redditch's top order batsmen made the difference as Davis (33), Tom Field (54) and Russell Southwick (34) got among the runs.

Liam Phelan (16), Joe Scarcella (15) and Jack Roberson (14) also added runs late on.

Waqas Ali proved to be the match winner for Redditch as he took 7-49 as Burghill were bowled out for 154.

Scarcella and Southwick and Tom Field took one wicket each, while only Stefan Hook (67no) scored runs for Tillington.

Davis said: "Waqas has been absolutely fantastic, he's often been the bridesmaid and not had any luck but he's getting his rewards now.

"It was a relief to get some runs on the board and hopefully this win will give us some confidence for the rest of the season."

Redditch are set to be boosted by the return of former captain Perry Derrick, who has been travelling around Australia.

Derrick is an accomplished all-rounder and is set to feature in Saturday's clash at in-form Bewdley.
