STUDLEY recorded their first win of the season as they got the better of Coleshill by five wickets.

Bees skipper Steve Rose won the toss and put in the away side into bat and dismissed them for 134 in 49 overs.

Rose (3-17), Josh Gandy (2-40) and Stuart Harris (2-12) were the main wicket takers, while 15-year-old Owain Erskine also took an import wicket.

Studley's reply then got off to a shaky start wen Rose (4) and Chris Perrins (0) were dismissed by Akmal Bashir.

But Brandon Miller (70) and Jack Williams (36) added much-needed runs in the middle order to steer Studley to 135-5 in the 44th over.

Rose was pleased to see his side win their first game of the season in Warwickshire League Division One, after playing their two first games away from home.

He said: "Stuart Harris was absolutely fantastic and he really restricted Coleshill early on.

"I don't like bowling but I brought myself on and got three wickets but it was a team effort, we shared the wickets around and took our catches too.

"The wicket was very lively and it was one of those surfaces where you don't really feel in.

"But Brandon did very well, he anchored us and his experience and skill guided us through.

"Last year we would have lost that game, he makes a big difference.

"It was good to get off the mark because we've had two tough away games."

Studley now face a trip to Weoley Hill in the league on Saturday, a side looking for their first win of the season.
