LIAM McDonald says Redditch United will keep pushing for a play-off spot in the Southern League Premier.

The Reds remain in the hunt for the end of season promotion party, after edging out Biggleswade 1-0 in their final home game of the season.

Victory means with one game of the campaign left, United can still finish in the top five but are relying on St Neots and Weymouth dropping points.

St Neots conclude the season against relegation battling Frome, while Weymouth were set to play Poole at home on Tuesday, and go to Biggleswade on Saturday.

"The only thing we can control is winning our last game of the season and hoping that St Neots and Weymouth drop points," said McDonald.

"I told the players to treat Saturday like a cup final and they did.

"We could have scored more goals but it was a mature display by us and one was enough."

George Carline bagged the winner on Saturday as Redditch edged out Biggleswade 1-0, which saw them break through the 70 point barrier.

The game was also watched by a 326 strong crowd. United's best season in years has seen attendances increase.

"The fans were excellent and it was a credit to the players that they attendances have gone up," added McDonald.

"We always try and entertain the supporters and they gave us a standing ovation at the end of the game."

Meanwhile, McDonald is set for talks with chairman Chris Swan about the plans for the 2015-16 season.
