ALVECHURCH'S improvement continues as they stretched their unbeaten run in the Midlands Premier with a 3-2 win over Causeway United.

Dmitri Dunkley, Connor Deards and Daniel Williams saw the Lye Meadow outfit take a commanding 3-1 lead at half-time and never look back.

Church are now unbeaten in four league games as they look to move into the top half of the table.

Manager Lee Knight said: "The first half was some of the best football we have played since I took over.

"We set up to be a little bit more attacking and played some neat attacking football and deserved to score three goals against a very hard working side.

"We took our foot off the gas in the second half but it was good to win the game."

Alvechurch were set to play Stourport Swifts away last night, a side which saw manager Rod Brown depart last week, and then go to bottom of the table Dunkirk on Saturday (3pm ko).

Church are firmly mid-table but Knight is eyeing a move up the division.

He said: "We've got games in hand on a lot of the sides around us and there are a few teams above who cannot seem to win at the moment.

"We're still a work in progress but are going in the right direction.

"All we can do is keep working hard and see where we finish."

Meanwhile, Alvechurch are set to complete the signing of left-back Tom Giddings from Studley. They are also set to loan to players to their neighbours in Division One.
