Bideford Town 1 Redditch United 1

Redditch secured a well earned point in Devon after stepping up their game during the second half.

Conditions were difficult in the wind and both sides found it hard to carve out chances, The home side frustrated the Reds, who had beaten them 7-2 in the corresponding fixture at the Valley Stadium.

Redditch did have their chances though and the impressive Ashley Sammons put two shots wide as they toiled in vain.

But it was Bideford who took the lead on 25 minutes as a sailing free-kick reached Kevin Squire who directed the ball with his chest into the path of Billy Tucker who lashed it into the bottom corner to complete a well-executed move.

Redditch came out the second half a different side after a double substitution and dominated throughout, Sammons equalising with a well taken free kick on 57 minutes.

Simeon May headed over a Joel Caines cross on 69 minutes and substitute Jamie Molyneux volleyed over from close range on 74 minutes.

Two minutes from time, George Carlisle could have won it for Redditch but tried to hit it first time instead of controlling it and the chance went wide.

But in the 89th minute, Bideford could have snatched Tucker caught Redditch goalkeeper Sam Hornby off his line and attempted a 30-yard lob but his effort fell inches beyond the crossbar.
