LIAM McDonald believes rejuvenated Redditch United can make a bid for the Southern League play-offs.

The Reds recorded their first win in the league since January 17 with a 4-0 win over Slough at the weekend.

Three points leaves United, who are eighth in the Premier Division, are now eight points off the top five.

United tackle mid-table Cambridge City tonight (7.45pm ko), which kicks-off a busy period of three games in a week.

Redditch ended a sequence of two draws in a row thanks to goals for Simeone Maye, Ashley Sammons, George Carline and Courtney Baker-Richardson.

"It was always the plan to get back to winning ways.

The first half wasn't great and we only lead by 1-0 at half-time but I told the player there is a chance for us to make the play-offs if we start playing well.

"It was a great response by the players and we scored a minute into the second period.

"We never looked back and could have scored more.

"Courtney scoring his first goal for the club was the icing on the cake for me because at 19 years of age he is someone who can play at a higher level.

"But Liam Spink and Calvin Dinsley were tremendous as well, when they are at their best they could play a level above."

Meanwhile, the Reds go to Bideford on Saturday (3pm ko) and then entertain Hitchin Town on Monday (7.45pm ko).
