LEE Knight has demanded Alvechurch start converting their goal-scoring chances.

The Lye Meadow outfit are among the lowest scorers in the Midlands Premier Division.

But Knight, who is in charge until the end of the season, does not believe Church lack creativity, just the clinical finishing which is required.

Last week, the manager felt they created numerous chances in the Worcestershire Senior Urn defeat to Malvern.

Alvechurch had paid the price for a lacklustre first half and were trailing 2-0. Their task was made harder when Ben Markall was sent off for two bookings after the break.

But James Cosgrove finished off a fine move and Gareth Evans made it 2-2 from the spot.

Unfortunately, Malvern booked their place in the final after winning the penalty shootout 5-4.

Knight said: “The problem at Alvechurch for several seasons has been inconsistency.

“We can play well in one half but not in another.

“Scoring goals is the key, we are not taking our chances.

“We created plenty of chances against Malvern even when we were down to ten.”

Alvechurch go to Continental Star tomorrow night (7.45pm ko), entertain Long Eaton on Saturday and have a trip to Stourport Swifts next Tuesday.
