LIAM McDonald feels his Redditch United side are back to their best after they earned an impressive point at high-flying Weymouth.

The Reds ended a three-game losing sequence in the Southern League Premier after a strong performance at the second-placed Terrras.

Callum Flanagan’s superb strike ensured a share of the spoils as United battled back from after James Reid had put the hosts ahead.

With Redditch set for another tough game at fifth-placed Hungerford on Saturday (3pm ko), the manager is confident his team are flying again.

He said: “At the time I felt it was a good point in Weymouth, but looking back on it I was disappointed not to win the game.

“After the three previous matches, we were back to our best and the lads worked very hard.

“Callum’s goal was a contender for goal of the season, it was a great strike and no less than what we deserved for our efforts.”

Despite their recent poor run of form, the Reds are still in the top ten and will be aiming to boost their top-five credentials at Hungerford, who have lost just once in their last 16 league games.

McDonald added: “The pressure’s on Hungerford, who need to get into the play-offs because of the money they spent.

“In contrast, there’s no pressure on us but I do want another good display.

“If we can win over there then we’re on track to where we want to finish.”

Jamie Molyneux has returned to training after breaking his ankle earlier in the season and is pencilled in for a return towards the end of the month.

Redditch United's defence of the Worcestershire Senior Cup ended after they were edged out 5-4 on penalties by Worcester City after both sides had drew 0-0 on Tuesday night.
