Redditch’s Andrew Robinson has told boxing fans to expect fireworks for his next big break on TV at Wolverhampton Civic Hall next week.

It comes on three months on from his points loss to Frank Buglioni for the WBO European super middleweight title, on Frank Warren’s mega show in London.

And the 30-year-old is looking to redress the balance when he appears again in front of the BoxNation cameras, dropping down to middleweight for what could be a six-round tear up.

‘D’Animal’ earned plaudits going down fighting to Buglioni, picking himself up off the floor in the seventh round to see out a compelling contest, the first blip on his 14-bout professional record.

There will be no love lost when Robinson steps through the ropes on Valentine’s Night and he wants to further establish his reputation as a great entertainer.

He said: “I am ready to go and I want to put on a spectacular performance at the Civic. I feel like I am giving the fans value for money.

“I want exciting fights in big arenas on television and this show on BoxNation is the ideal way to get my year up and running.

“I want to come back with a bang, get this win behind me and keep improving. When the next shot comes about, I will be ready.”

Devon-based Spanish teenager Christian Hoskin-Gomez, 19, is the ideal foil and their come forward styles will likely see someone fall, but Robinson believes he has the craft to beat him to the punch.

They form part of a whopping 10-bout supporting cast to a main event that will produce a contender to the WBO world lightweight title.

The organisation’s European champion, Stephen Ormond, puts up his belt against bitter rival and British boss Terry Flanagan in their eliminator.

Robinson said of his opponent: “When you get to a certain level and you are game like that, there’s only one result. If he’s still boxing like a novice, it’s a bad situation for him to be in.

“I feel like I am up there now, I consider myself a 10 to 12 round fighter and on another level, I can see in the gym how I have come on.

“I walk around at middleweight, anyway, I actually have to eat a lot to get up to super middle. Even with Buglioni, my opponents always seem to be a lot bigger than me.

“I just go with the flow, I will box where the opportunities come up but the lower the weight, the more my power will make me a force to be reckoned with.”
