LOWLY Mixtures ended Swan’s recent rapid rise up the Studley Skittles League table as the latter recorded their lowest season’s total.

Swan had looked likely winners after surging into an eight-pin lead by leg three, only for Mixtures to respond impressively to edge into a four-pin advantage.

Swan then narrowly lost the final leg to give Mixtures an unexpected win, thanks to the efforts of John Green (38), Colin Smith (35) and John Day (34).

Best for Swan was a 42 from Graham Howells, as well as 30 each from Helen Racki and Andy Reynolds.

Well Developed recorded a second successive victory as they surprisingly ended Alley Cats’ four-game winning run.

Alley Cats looked favourites to win again when leading by six pins after leg two, but Well Developed turned the tables to be 15 pins up after leg three. Cats halved the deficit in leg four, only to see their opponents pull away in the last part of the game.

Lodge Farmers ended a four-game losing streak when they saw off bottom-of-the-table Swingers.
