REDDITCH United manager Liam McDonald feels his squad is ready for the final push in the Southern League Premier.

Despite last week’s midweek clash against Cambridge City and Saturday’s home clash with Hitchin postponed because of waterlogged pitches, United are placed sixth and very much in the mix for the play-offs.

But they face a sequence of games that may well have an impact on where they finish this season.

On Saturday, they entertain mid-table Paulton Rovers (3pm KO), before tackling second-placed Weymouth away on February 14 and Hungerford in Berkshire a week later.

He said: “Paulton is the start of an interesting run of games. After that we’ve got matches against two sides who are very much in the shake-up for promotion.

“We’ve then got a few games against teams in the lower half of the table.

“It has been a fantastic season, we’ve had so many highs and not many lows at all.

“We’ve had some great winning streaks and seen two players move to the Football League and Conference as well.

“But the squad is looking very good for the rest of the season. It’s not the biggest, but it has lots of very good players, so we’re looking to do well.

“I think finishing above tenth and hanging on in the play-off chase would represent a good end to the season.”

Redditch United have loaned Kyle Turner back to Pilkington XXX, while Luke Shearer was set to play for Alvechurch in their Worcestershire Senior Urn game against Malvern.

McDonald said: “Kyle is someone I signed with an eye on next season, but I felt he would do better off playing at Pilkington, where he can continue to develop.

“I know they will look after him at Pilkington, so it’s a good move for both.

“We will always work with other clubs and help them out if we can.”

l Studley will be hoping that the wet weather lays off ahead of Saturday's Midlands Football Division One game at Pershore Town (3pm KO).

The Bees’ home clash against Pilkington was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Meanwhile, Ben Judd has left the club to join Pilkington XXX.
