LEGENDARY coach Kim Casey has returned to Alvechurch to work as Lee Knight's assistant.

Casey one of Worcestershire's most well-respected coaches as he has joined the Lye Meadow outfit as manager Knight's right hand man.

The former Kidderminster Harriers goal-getter had left Alvechurch in 2012 to return to Redditch United and most recently been at Black Horse with former Church boss Vaughan Pearhouse.

Knight was determined to bring in a more experienced coach to work with him.

He was set to begin in last night's Worcestershire Senior Urn game against He said: "I am over the moon to bring in Kim, he's one of the best coaches around.

"I remember when he was at Redditch United when I was a player there and he had a huge impact on my development.

"He's someone who I have always wanted to work with. I am only 37 and am still learning so I wanted someone who knows the game.

"He'll be a big lift for the entire club and comes at the right time."

Alvechurch saw their Midlands Premier game against Walsall Wood postponed and instead played a friendly game against Bromsgrove Sporting on Studley's 3G pitch.

But Alvechurch handed several first team players the day off and fielded a host of trialists and younger players.

Knight said: "The game was all about fitness, we fielded a lot of trialists and guys who needed game time.

"The most important aspect was getting some game time under our belts, the result did not matter because it was not our strongest team."

Alvechurch entertain Heath Hayes on Saturday (3pm ko) and Westfields on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
