GOALS from George Carline and Leigh Phillips could not save Redditch from defeat as their Cornish hosts came from behind to snatch the points.

The Reds started the better and took a deserved lead on 17 minutes when an Ashley Sammons corner picked out Carline who glanced his near post header beyond Charlie Burns in the Truro goal.

But as the half wore on, the home side began to take control. United keeper Sam Hornby needed to push a Danny Greenslade effort over the bar on 25 minutes but was helpless to deny the City defender four minutes later when Greenslade took advantage of a slip by Redditch centre half Dan Scarr and fired into the net.

On 33 minutes Truro were ahead. A speculative ball into the area fell for Craig Duff and he made no mistake.

Heavy rain had made life tricky for both sides at times and Truro keeper Burns was at fault as the Reds levelled eight minutes into the second half, Phillips’ shot from just outside the area slipping through his fingers.

And this prompted the visitors to have their best period of the game, Calvin Dinsley forcing a save from Burns who then did well to push another Phillips effort over the crossbar.

The game continued to ebb and flow and just short of the hour, Hornby saved well from Issac Vassell after the Truro striker had turned and shot from inside the area.

And Vassell was involved in his side’s 61st minute winner, crossing into the area where substitute Danny Sullivan fired home for a debut goal.

The visitors looked to claw their way back but struggled to find a way through as the Cornishmen held on for the win that edged them level on points with Redditch in the play-off zone.
